Meet Steven Sugar! Er, well his backgrounds anyway. We’re thrilled with the amazing backgrounds that Steven has been crafting for Bravest Warriors. Take a moment to gaze at these beauties and admire these works of art! Alright, alright that’s enough gazing. Let’s learn a little more about Steven: I just graduated last Spring from the Illustration department at the Rhode Island School of Design and moved over to LA for work. Bravest Warriors is the first cartoon I’ve worked on and the first time I’ve done background design for animation!  Before all this I’ve done art for a couple video games at the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab and a handful of self-published comics. As far as my approach to Bravest Warriors, there’s been a lot of emphasis on worldbuilding. Like defining the style of holograms and the aesthetic of the Bravest Warrior’s tech. I grew up drawing Star Wars ships, so creating ship designs for Bravest feels like I’ve come full circle. Star Wars has been a big influence for me with all these backgrounds, there’s even a few Ralph McQuarrie pieces among our reference material. Naturally Adventure Time has had some impact on the look of the show, but we’ve also been looking at Blade Runner, Akira and some of Syd Mead’s concept work! Working with (showrunner) Breehn Burns has been great, especially since I was so green when I began. Breehn, Christy Beckert and the rest of the crew have all been an incredible help in learning how to design the locations for the show! Be sure to follow Steven on Tumblr to see more of his great work. -Mike (Source: bravestwarriors.cartoonhangover.com)

You may not know the names Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi but I bet you’ve heard of the legendary Nickelodeon series “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and “KaBlam!” Or maybe a little film called “Alvin and the Chipmunks”? Or how about “The Tale of Despereaux” (what is it with these two and rodents)? Yeah, they’re kinda big shots, but even better? These two awesome cats are the head writers and executive producers on Bravest Warriors! They’ve worked hand in hand with show runner and director Breehn Burns to make every episode as awesome as possible!
